We recommend Cat6A. It supports 10Gbps — the current industry standard — and gives you the headroom to support next-generation access points without having to re-pull cable down the road. 

The difference comes down to distance and bandwidth. Single-mode fiber (9 micron) supports up to 100Gbps and is best for long runs between buildings or campuses. Multi-mode fiber is designed for shorter distances — OM4 50 micron supports 10Gbps up to 400 meters, while 62.5 micron multi-mode tops out at 1Gbps at 300 metersWe’ll assess your building layout and recommend the right fiber type for your infrastructure. 

Cat5e supports up to 1Gbps. Cat6 supports 10Gbps but only up to 37 meters before signal degradation. Cat6A supports the full 10Gbps at runs up to 100 meters, making it the right choice for most commercial installations today.
